Still snow at the Tet
Monday, May 14, 2012
Snow shoed around Tannis Lake on Saturday. Still about a meter of snow up top with slushy stuff off the trails. Hard going through the trees around the lake with snow melting and slippery. Gorgeous day with sunshine and blue skies at 20 + degrees. The road is clear of snow all the way to the parking lot. Enjoy the last of the “white stuff”.

Mountain Bike Races
Wednesday, May 09, 2012
Thanks to Sue Duxbury and everyone who helped with the Mountain Bike Races on the weekend. It was a real success. These folks really worked hard to make it such a great race. The farthest away license plate I saw was South Carolina, and ones from Washington and Oregon, Alberta and probably a lot more! Thanks for all of your work with the mountain bike community! It had a substantial impact on the local economy. I heard that there were more than 600 riders.

McNair Cabin Report
Thursday, April 12, 2012
Had a great Easter weekend up in the Tet, 3 of us went Friday morning all the way to McNair cabin, bridge was fine crossing at bottom of hill to Chapman Lake, McNair cabin was in good shape, hardly any firewood left, maybe a half a cord, still a fair amount of kindling. Cabin was almost snowed in. I estimate 30 ft of snow at least. The out house was buried under at least 20ft of snow, we dug that out, took almost 3 hrs. On the way home Monday we met 3 people coming down the hill from Steele, they had missed the Edwards cabin turnoff and were heading to Chapman Lake until we turned them around and gave directions back to parking lot. Posted pics and video at Tetrahedron Back Country Facebook page. Very special thanks to Bill Crawford (aka Snowman) for plowing the road. Cheers :)

Road to Dakota Hut
Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Went skiing in the rain today April 11th. Very spring corn conditions were wonderful, HOWEVER--last 2 km of the road up to the hut and parking lot at the top were almost impassible with 4 wheel drive with 4 wheel snow tires. Deep soft ruts. Chains would have helped but probably made deeper ruts. I expect that the upper road will be closed shortly. This will be my last run to the top this year unless winter conditions return. BUT lots of snow so who knows.

Busy Easter weekend
Monday, April 09, 2012
Two of us went up for a day trip on Sunday and found 12 vehicles in the parking lot. Some chained up, some not. the last 200m of the access is hell - frozen lumps of ice and snow and huge divots made by vehicles without chains. Until then the road was 2 wheel driveable without chains. Victor's Landing offered lots of snow (the Parks sign is buried completely) but it turned to wet sugar in the afternoon. The cabins were all well used and it seems the new Stewardship programme is working well. The sign at the Y between Tannis and Batchelor is missing - not buried - the post is still there just the sign is gone. Guess someone wanted a souvenir.
